• Ulises Calvillo (2020/21)

    HURACAN FC MEXICO

    Miguel is an alumni of Enseña Mexico and is currently working with the Smurfit Kappa Foundation where he focuses on developing children’s socio-emotional skills. He’s committed to helping  the children reach secondary school but he also wants them to understand the bigger picture that football offers from a historical, cultural, technical and even e-gaming perspective.

  • Bidi Yolkey Rai (2020/21)

    HURACAN FC NEPAL

    Yolkey is an English teacher and Teach For Nepal alumni, currently working with local government in Western Nepal. She loved playing football as a child but couldn’t find other girls who wanted to play. She saw this same passion in her female students and gave them a real opportunity to play football, while using it as a tool to help change social norms.

  • Ross Cooper (2020/21)

    HURACAN FC NORTHALA (UNITED KINGDOM)

    Ross is a Teach First Alumni currently working at the Alec Reed Academy as a Biology teacher. Having benefited from the physical aspect of football as well as the diverse range of role models it gave him when growing up, he’s keen to pass these learnings on to the pupils at the Academy. Ross has also spent time helping the Quemeros’ volunteer work in Buenos Aires.

  • Mingma Tenzing (2019/20)

    HURACAN FC NEPAL

    Mingma is an English teacher from Teach For Nepal who led a group of 23 girls and 3 boys. He brought real, sustainable change in an area where girls struggle to get the same opportunities as boys. Mingma hopes that the skills they learned through football will ultimately improve the quality of life in the entire region.

  • Gaby Dale and Michela Di Bellonia (2019/20)

    HURACAN FC ST FRANCIS DE SALES (UNITED KINGDOM)

    Gaby and Michela are Teach First alumni working in a primary school in North London. They had already built a strong sense of community with their group of 10 girls in Year 5 who otherwise found it difficult to take part in after school activities, and helped them develop key life skills such as leadership and clear decision making through football.

  • Deysi Varillas (2019/20)

    HURACAN FC PERU

    Deysi came through Teach For Peru, supporting 5 girls and 22 boys in Tambogrande. Deysi saw the effects of childhood alcoholism in her area first-hand, and aimed to address it by channeling the children’s love of football in a positive way.

  • Sona Gevorgyan (2019/20)

    HURACAN FC ARMENIA

    Sona is a Teach For Armenia graduate in Hin Shein, teaching English and computer science. Her project oversaw 18 girls and 24 boys and sought to unite isolated local communities and overcome cultural differences.

  • Vincent Dadzie (2019/20)

    HURACAN FC GHANA

    Vincent is a maths teacher and Teach For Ghana alumni, who headed up a large group of 75 boys in Tamale. By providing the necessary football equipment, training and support, Vincent strived to reduce the high school dropout rate in Ghana by creating a structure that encouraged their academic growth and social development.

  • Diana Lagunes (2018/19)

    HURACAN FC MEXICO

    Her project aimed at strengthening the socio-emotional skills of the members of the CONALEP Don Benjamín Salinas Westrup women's and men's soccer teams, seeking to generate a sense of identity within their community. This was achieved through community work initiated by the team and involving the entire squad, through campaigns promoting sports and community clean-up efforts around CONALEP. All of this was achieved by enhancing their socio-emotional skills.
