Child Case Study

Anek Esther is 16 years old. She was a loner at school because her challenges and responsibilities were beyond her reach. This affected her relation with colleagues at school and her performance. She became an active player with Huracan fc-kalongo where she got a chance to play with the team and also had time to listen to other students and got a platform to interact freely with them beyond class. Esther is a striker on our team.

Esther has gained the esteem and confidence to freely relate with people around her and has also taken it up to not only focus on her limitations in life but also utilize her strengths and abilities to pave way and also find solutions for any pressing challenge that comes her way. She freely interacts, smiles and enjoys being with friends.

  • St. Bakhita Vocational training centre.

  • Kalongo She- United club.

Words from Project Leader, Phiona

“Huracan Foundation has enabled me utilize my leadership skills in causing change / impact in the community. I have been exposed to greater opportunities in the community where my dream of helping child mothers and teen girls in war zones regain their mental sanity has been achieved. With the funding given to me for support, I have been able to bring many people on board especially community leaders, parents and other stakeholders in the community. I have become an optime of change in the lives of the girls in the community. As I get to the second phase of the project, I believe the girls will attain profitable skills which will help them start up small scale businesses to help improve their lives and community as a whole.”
